Fair Grounds Presents Stakes Doubleheader on Saturday

NEW ORLEANS, LA—AUGUST 31, 2017—Cruz E. Nava’s Shesa Diamond Diva, a stakes-placed gray daughter of Struttin To Beduino, is the 3-1 morning-line favorite for Saturday’s 300-yard, $25,000 De Saix Stakes for 2-year-olds at Fair Grounds Racecourse.

Shesa Diamond Diva is trained by Saul Ramirez Jr. and is coming off of a second-place finish, a half of a length behind winner Second Down Leaving, in the 350-yard, $50,000 Louisiana Juvenile Invitational Stakes (R) at Delta Downs on July 8. The filly drew post 2 and will be ridden by Eddie Sanchez.

Eye Am Sizzlin, a Sizzlin Cartel colt owned by M & D Racing Stables and trained by co-owner Levi Mays, drew post 6 and will be ridden by Rolando Cabrera. Eye Am Sizzlin has earned $72,685 from six starts, and his resume includes a fourth-place finish, two lengths behind winner Dashnunder Afullmoon, in the 350-yard, $705,000 Lee Berwick Memorial Futurity (RG1) at Delta Downs on July 8.

Also on Saturday, a full field of eight distance specialists has been entered in the 870-yard, $25,000 Faubourg St. John Stakes. B And G Fast Dash, the 8-5 morning-line favorite and defending champion, is coming off of a wire-to-wire, 3 1/2-length victory in the 870-yard, $50,000 Live Oak Stakes (R) at Delta Downs on July 8. The 5-year-old Heza Fast Dash gelding drew post 4 and will be ridden by Donald Watson for Oscar Rohne’s and Mary Thompson’s Mo Racing and trainer Kenneth Roberts Sr.
