Capitan Jimbob Draws Post 5 for $274,325 Firecracker Futurity

Multiple stakes-placed Capitan Jimbob will look for his first stakes win in Saturday’s 350-yard, $274,325 Firecracker Futurity (G2) at Delta Downs.

VINTON, LA—JUNE 26, 2017—Felix J. Martinez’s Capitan Jimbob will seek his first stakes victory in Saturday’s 350-yard, $274,325 Firecracker Futurity (G2) at Delta Downs.

Capitan Jimbob is coming off of a 1 1/2-length win in one of six Firecracker Futurity trials on June 10. The sorrel son of Desirio has earned $61,352 from five races, and his resume includes a second-place finish, a neck behind winnerr Together To The End, in the 300-yard, $234,000 Harrah’s Entertainment Futurity (G3) at Louisiana Downs on March 22.

Capitan Jimbob drew post 5 and will be ridden by Rene Gutierrez for trainer Wendy Garcia. The colt’s nine opponents include Dont Temp Me, a homebred stakes-winning Tempting Dash colt trained by Rodolfo Sanchez for owners Rigo and Sally Flores. Dont Temp Me has won two of his three starts, including the 330-yard, $81,000 Old South Futurity at Delta Downs on May 13.

Dont Temp Me drew post 9 and will be ridden by Alfonso Lujan.
