Marfilous Returns in Delta’s Grade 2, $271,950 Firecracker Futurity

VINTON, LA—JUNE 27, 2016—Marfilous, a gray daughter of Ivory James owned and trained by Martin Trejo, drew post 6 for Saturday’s 350-yard, $271,950 Firecracker Futurity (G2) at Delta Downs.

The fastest qualifier, Marfilous is coming off of a three-quarter length victory as the 2-1 favorite in the first of six trials on June 11. Marfilous has won two of three starts and has earned $16,708, and she was a finalist in the March 23, $268,000 Harrah’s Entertainment Futurity (G3) at Louisiana Downs.

Marfilous was acquired for $9,500 at last year’s Texas Quarter Horse Association Yearling Sale. The filly will be ridden by David Alvarez.

Sizzlin Stewart, a homebred Sizzlin Cartel gelding trained by Kenneth Roberts Sr. for owners Pat Crabtree and Don Stewart, drew the rail post and will be ridden by Gilbert Ortiz. The 10th-fastest qualifier, Sizzlin Stewart has banked $50,068 from three outs, and his two wins include a three-quarter length victory as the 3-2 favorite in the 330-yard, $89,000 Old South Futurity at Delta Downs on May 14.
