Delta Dash Draws Full Field of 10 Sprinters, Old South Futurity Trials Draw 56


Delta Downs will host the Delta Dash Stakes and trials for the Old South Futurity on Saturday's race card.

VINTON, LA—APRIL 21, 2016—Guillermo Herrera’s King Daddy Dove, a five-time winner at the distance, is one of 10 sprinters entered in Saturday’s 250-yard, $20,000 Delta Dash Stakes at Delta Downs.

A 6-year-old gelding by King Corona trained by Carlos Saldivar, King Daddy Dove is coming off of a neck victory at odds of 14-1 in a 220-yard, non-winners-of-four allowance-optional $20,000 claimer for state-breds at Louisiana Downs on March 21. The gelding drew post 6 and will be ridden by Eleazar Guillen.

Old South Futurity Trials

Saturday’s 330-yard Old South Futurity trials have drawn 56 2-year-olds, 26 of whom will be making their career debuts.

Charles M. Vanderford’s Ivoryand Oak ships in from Oklahoma, where the gelded son of Ivory James ran third, one length behind winner Senator Teller, in the 300-yard, $50,000 Oklahoma Juvenile Invitational Stakes at Remington Park on March 26. The gelding drew post 5 and will be ridden by Alfonso Lujan for trainer Justin Haug in the third of six trials.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the $25,000-added Old South Futurity final on May 14.
