OPELOUSAS, LA—OCTOBER 29, 2015—The $1,000,000 LQHBA Breeders Futurity (RG1) trials will take place on Friday, November 6 at Evangeline Downs. Entries were taken and post-positions were drawn this morning.

A total of 134 American Quarter Horses were entered into 14 trials with the defending champion trainer at the racetrack, Kenneth Roberts Sr., leading the way with 17 horses entered. The 10 fastest qualifiers from these trials will participate in the $1,000,000 LQHBA Breeders Futurity Final on Saturday, November 28.

There are several horses entered that have already won some notable races in 2015. The undefeated filly Jessa Louisiana Zoom, trained by Frank Cavazos, scored in the $273,977 LQHBA Lassie Futurity (RG2) and the $634,530 Lee Berwick Memorial Futurity (RG1), both at Delta Downs. Jockey Danny Lavergne will ride the filly, as he has done for all four previous starts. She has been installed as the 9-5 morning-line favorite in the third trial.

One of the 17 Kenny Roberts trainees, Telarosa, teamed up with jockey Lucas Constantin to win the $337,530 LQHBA Sale Futurity (RG1) at Fair Grounds in her most recent start on September 5. She is the 8-5 morning-line favorite in the tenth trial of the evening.

Magic Black Jack, ridden by David Alvarez, won the $300,502 Mardi Gras Futurity (RG2) at Louisiana Downs back in March for his first lifetime victory. The Martin Trejo trainee will be in the 12th trial on Friday night, which will be his first start since that win. The gelding is listed as the 2-1 favorite in that trial.

Since there are 14 trials taking place at Evangeline Downs on Friday, November 6, the regular post time of 5:35 pm Central Time has been changed. The first post time on Friday night will now be 5:05 pm Central Time to help accommodate the extra races that evening.
