VINTON, LA—JUNE 17, 2015—A total of 113 Louisiana-bred 2-year-olds has been entered in Saturday’s 350-yard Lee Berwick Memorial Futurity (RG1) trials at Delta Downs.

Twelve heats will be contested, beginning at 5:30 p.m. (CDT), and the fifth appears to be the most contentious. Jessa Louisiana Zoom, a daughter of champion Jess Louisiana Blue racing for Jason Richards and Michael J. Leblanc, is coming off of a 1 1/4-length victory as the even-money favorite in the 330-yard, $274,000 Louisiana Breeders’ Lassie Futurity (RG2) at Delta Downs on May 15.

Trained by Frank Cavazos, Jessa Louisiana Zoom has won both of her starts and has banked $146,888. The filly drew post 3 and will be ridden by Danny Lavergne in Saturday’s trial.

Jessa Louisiana Zoom’s nine opponents in the fifth trial include First Prize Denim, a gelded son of world champion Oak Tree Special racing for Jose Flores’ JF Racing & Farm LLC and trained by Martin Trejo. First Prize Denim has won all three of his starts, including the 330-yard, $283,000 Louisiana Breeders Laddie Futurity (RG2) on May 16.

First Prize Denim drew post 9 and will be ridden by David Alvarez.

The 10 fastest qualifiers from Saturday’s trials will meet in the $650,000-est. Lee Berwick Memorial Futurity final on July 11.
