Ten State-Breds Entered in Delta’s Louisiana Purchase Stakes


Delta Downs will host the $40,000 Louisiana Purchase Stakes (R) for state-breds on Friday's race card.

VINTON, LA—MAY 4, 2015—Joan Rood’s Zoomin For Bugs, the runner-up to JLS Dashn And Zoomn in the March 14 Mardi Gras Derby (R), will make his first start against older horses in Friday’s 350-yard, $40,000 Louisiana Purchase Stakes (R) for state-breds at Delta Downs.

A 3-year-old son of Zoomin For Bux trained by Randy Hebert, Zoomin For Bugs has won two of eight outs and has earned $64,880. The gelding drew the rail post and will be ridden by Armando Ramirez.

Chale Viejo, a stakes-placed 4-year-old Mr Queens Mystery gelding owned and trained by Robert Touchet, will be ridden by Floriberto Maldonado from post 4. Chale Viejo will be making his first start since November 29, when he ran second to First Dashin Perry in the 300-yard, $25,000 Mojo Stakes (R) at Evangeline Downs.
