Louisiana QHBA Million Futurity Trials Set for Friday

OPELOUSAS, LA-—NOVEMBER 12, 2019—TF Shez Jess Dashin, a gray daughter of Sir Runaway Dash owned by Down South Racing LLC, will make her first start in six months in Friday’s 400-yard Louisiana QHBA Million Futurity (RG1) trials for state-bred juveniles at Evangeline Downs.

Trained by Ned Goutierrez III, TF Shez Jess Dashin will be stretching out in distance off of her three-quarter length victory in the 330-yard, $339,931 Louisiana Breeders’ Lassie Futurity (RG2) at Delta Downs on May 17. The filly has won three of four starts and has earned $232,666, and her record includes a second-place finish in the March 16, $305,296 Mardi Gras Futurity (RG2) at Louisiana Downs.

TF Shez Jess Dashin drew post 8 and will be ridden by Everardo Rodriguez in the first of 14 trials.

Sir Runaway Cash, a son of Sir Runaway Dash trained by David Bustamante for owner Meal Ticket Racing, is coming off of a wire-to-wire, half-length victory in the 350-yard, $428,475 LQHBA Sale Futurity (RG1) at Fair Grounds Racecourse in New Orleans. The gelding has banked $230,880 from five outs.

Sir Runaway Cash drew the rail post and will be ridden by John Hamilton in the 10th heat.

Other prominent Louisiana-bred 2-year-olds entered in the trial include Runaway Second Down, a Sir Runaway Dash gelding trained by Robi Meche for owners Eulalio Argote and Victor Alvarado and the winner of the July 6, $700,293 Lee Berwick Futurity (RG1) at Delta Downs, and Eduardo Lopez’s Ed O, a multiple graded stakes placed Mr Piloto gelding trained by Jose U. Lopez.

Post time for the first trial is set for 4:50 p.m. (CST). The 14th and final trial is scheduled to go off at 10:15.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the $1-million LQHBA Million Futurity final on December 7.
