NEW ORLEANS, LA—DECEMBER 8, 2018—Restricted Grade 1 winner Eysa Jess Jumpn easily defeated Tdz Louisiana Toast by one-length Saturday afternoon to win the $100,000 Louisiana Champions Day QH Juvenile at Fair Grounds Race Course. Zoomin Patriot finished three-quarters back to get third.

Coming off troubled third-place effort in the LQHBA Louisiana Million Futurity(RG1) trials on November 16th when she bobbled the start, Eysa Jess Jumpn drifted out Saturday in a powerful performance under jockey Guadalupe Lucio, Jr. The daughter of leading sire Heza Fast Dash completed the 350 yards over sloppy course and into a 15 mph crosswind in :17.503 seconds, a 95 speed index.

"She is very special to me," Lucio after the race. "I got hurt after the Lee Berwick trial and couldn't ride her in the final. She has a huge heart: I'm so happy I was able to get the win today!"

Trainer Josue Huitron saddled the brown filly for owner Jose Estrada Quarter Horses. Winner of the $700,00 Lee Berwick Futurity(RG1) in July, Eysa Jess Jumpn has won five of eight starts and pocketed $45,000 today to bring her earnings to $425,770.

"She is a very fast filly and got a great start today," Huitron said.

Out of the Mr Jess Perry mare Jess Jumpn, this is the second straight year that D & S Racing LLC has bred the Louisiana Champions Day QH Juvenile winner. They are also the breeder of 2017 winner Dashnunder Afullmoon.

Josue Ponce saddled runner-up Tdz Louisiana Toast for owner Juan Martinez-Labastida. Manuel Gutierrez had the riding call aboard the Jess Louisiana Blue gelding out of Shes A Royal Toast by Toast To Dash.

Second in the Mardi Gras Futurity(RG2) in March, the brown gelding entered today's Juvenile off a win in the Louisiana Million Futurity trials November 16 at Evangeline Downs. Bred by Tony Doughtie, Tdz Louisiana Toast earned $17,000 to bring his earnings total to $104,440.

Zoomin Patriot picked up $10,000 for his third-place finish. Fresh off a win in the Dash For Cash Juvenile at Lone Star Park in his last start, October 6, the Jet Black Patriot gelding races for owner Claudia Avila and is trained by Rolando Almanza. Ricardo Garza-Cruz rode the black gelding out of Zippy Zoomer by Azoom. Bred by Run Bayou Ranch LLC, Zoomin Patriot has banked $103,121 this year.

Mardi Gras Futurity(RG2) winner Guidry Pride II finished sixth but was disqualified for interference and placed 9th.

Completing the official order of finish were Amending The Bar, Five Bar Perry, Im For Real, Tan Jet, Mr Range Rover, Guidry Pride II, Jess Run Corona, Corona Prize and Jess Runawaytogether.
