Eyesa Shoofly Dandy Scores In First Stakes of New Season


Eyesa Shoofly Dandy, under jockey Donell Blake, won the $15,000 Marathon Stakes on Saturday at Louisiana Downs.

BOSSIER CITY, LA—JANUARY 7, 2017—AQHA's 2016 leading trainer Judd Kearl saddled his first stakes winner of the new year on Saturday when Eyesa Shoofly Dandy defeated Bet I Make U Famous by one-length in the $15,000 Marathon Stakes at Louisiana Downs. Rakin In The Jax was another 1˝ lengths back for third.

Ridden by jockey Donell Blake, Eyesa Shoofly Dandy took the lead before the first turn then completed the 870-yard course in :45.516 seconds, an 89-speed index. It was the ninth career win for the son of Gold Medal Jess from the Willed Wicked mare Miss Sound Viking.

The multiple stakes winning 6-year-old races for owners Curtis Smith and Steve Hold. Wesley Ann Anglin bred the sorrel who picked up $9,000 to boost his total earnings to $97,866.

Runner-up Better I Make U Famous, a son of One Famous Eagle, races for owners Vernon Harman and Robert T. Moudy III. Bred in Texas by Moudy and James Markum, Bet I Make U Famous was ridden by jockey Alfonso Lujan. Trey Ellis saddled the multiple-stakes-placed 5-year-old out of Lone Bet by First Down Dash. He earned $3,000.

Also, a 5-year-old, Rakin In The Jax races for owner/breeder Angela Dowden and trainer Jason Magnon. Lucas Constantin rode the stakes-placed son of Rakin In The Cash out of Alcohol And Ambiance by Panther Mountain. He picked up $1,650 for the effort.

Game Own, Snowbound Cowboy, Apollitical Courage and Tempting Dashforcash completed the field.
