Mrs Kennedy Tlc Qualifies Fastest Second Night Of Trials For The Louisiana Lassie Futurity At Delta


Mardi Gras Futurity(RG2) winner Mrs Kennedy Tlc, under jockey Arturo Alvarez, setting the fastest time for the $310,695 Louisiana Lassie Futurity (RG2) on Thursday night at Delta Downs.

VINTON, LA—MAY 4, 2022—Delta Downs hosted the final eight qualifying trials for this year’s $310,695 Louisiana Lassie Futurity (RG2) on Thursday night. The top five times of the evening will join the five fastest qualifiers from the eight trials that were conducted on Wednesday in the final on Friday, May 27.

Thursday’s fastest time, and the fastest time overall, was recorded by Edwardo Lopez’s Mrs Kennedy Tlc, who took the final trial on the card under jockey Arturo Alvarez. The Miguel Pizana trainee covered 330 yards in :16.943 seconds, which equaled a speed index of 82.

Her trial was conducted over a wet surface as heavy rains began to fall just prior to post time. The other seven trials on the card we run over a fast track.

The win by Mrs Kennedy Tlc was the third of her undefeated career. She previously took her trial for the Mardi Gras Futurityat Louisiana Downs prior to winning the final of the restricted Grade 2 $383,000 event in her next start. She earned $6,000 for her Lassie trial effort on Thursday and now boasts a career bankroll of $180,596.

Bred in Louisiana by Jorge Haddad, Mrs Kennedy Tlc is a 2-year-old bay filly by The Louisiana Cartel, out of the Louisiana Senator mare Time For The Senator. She was purchased for $6,500 at the 2021 Louisiana Quarter Horse Association Yearling Sale.

Leaving the gate as a heavy favorite at odds of 1-2 on the toteboard, Mrs Kennedy Tlc paid $3 to win.

Eagle Watchin, a daughter of world champion One Dashing Eagle, finished second to Mrs Kennedy Tlc to hold onto the night's second fastest clocking of :17.180 seconds. Miguel Rodriguez trains the filly out of Won To Watch, by Tres Seis, for owner Jagger Horse Racing.

Leonardo Rodriguez had the riding assignment on the Alberto Vera, Jr. bred filly who has compiled a (3) 1-2-0 record and banked $9,980 this year.

Fiercely Faithful, under jockey J.R. Ramirez, broke her maiden in the third trial for trainer Darrel Soileau and owner Christian McGee to get the third fastest clocking of :17.327 seconds.

The $8,200 LQHBA Sale graduate is by multiple stakes sire Jess Louisiana Blue from the Game Patriot mare Tm Game On, a sister to Lee Berwick Futurity(RG1) winner Lil Bit Trashy.  Dale Bertucci is the breeder.

Mazzikeen, a $15,500 LQHBA graduate racing for owner Dionicio Hernandez, also broke her maiden in tonight's opening trial to get the fourth fastest time of :17.330 seconds. The daughter champion sire The Louisiana Cartel rallied under jockey David Alvarez to win by 1-1/2 lengths.

Jesus M. Marquez trains the bay filly out of stakes-placed Sixarun Bug by Sixarun. Bred by Mercury Racing this is the family of Ruidoso Futurity(G1) winner Real Six Time and West Texas Derby(G2) winner Fortune Flyer.

Streaks Of Power, a daughter of second-crop sire Power Jam (TB), racing for owner-breeder Ken O'Brien was a neck winner in the second trial to post the fifth fastest time of :17.334 seconds on Night 2. 

Luis Garcia trains the gray filly from the first crop of the stakes winning Ivory James mare Steaks Of Ivory.  Jockey Jorge Garcia had the riding call.  This is the family of AQHA Racing Champion Foose and Grade 1 winner AJs High.  

The five qualifiers from the first set of trials on Wednesday included Cos Mamma Said (17.167), Cool Ya Jets (17.176), San Lorenzo Moon (17.205), Jeg Fascination (17.213), and Btrain (17.231)

Delta Downs will begin two sets of trials for this year’s $331,880 Louisiana Laddie Futurity (RG2) on Friday night and conclude them on Saturday. The five fastest times each night will make it to the final of the big race coming up on Saturday, May 28.
