Louisiana Breeders' Laddie Futurity Trials Set for Friday, Saturday


Delta Downs will host two nights of trials for the $331,880 Laddie Futurity (RG2) on Friday and Saturday night.

VINTON, LA–MAY 1, 2022–
A total of 135 state-bred 2-year-olds, headed by Jrs Tonyas Majestic, are entered in this weekend's Louisiana Breeders' Laddie Futurity (RG2) trials at Delta Downs.

Sixteen 330-yard heats will be contested on Friday and Saturday, eight each night. The five fastest qualifiers from each night of trials will race in the May 28, $331,880 final.

Jrs Tonyas Majestic is a son of the Corona Cartel stallion Majestic Cartel trained by Charles "Duke" Shults for owner Long Leaf Racing. A maiden from two outs, the brown colt has banked $66,252, and he is coming off of a second-place finish, three-quarters of a length behind winner Mrs Kennedy TLC, in the March 27, $383,000 Mardi Gras Futurity (RG2) at Louisiana Downs.

Jrs Tonyas Majestic drew post 5 and will be ridden by Everardo Rodriguez in Saturday's sixth trial.

Another Mardi Gras Futurity finalist, Toast To Blue drew post 5 and will be ridden by Everardo Rodriguez in Saturday's first heat. A $22,000 buy at last year's Louisiana QHBA Yearling Sale, the Jess Louisiana Blue colt is trained by Martin Trejo for owner Adame and Trejo Racing Team.

Trainer Kenneth Roberts Sr. will send out Konnan Cartel, an undefeated homebred son of Five Bar Cartel, for owner Dania Castellanos in Saturday's fourth trial. Konnan Cartel won both of his starts and banked earned $24,000 at Louisiana Downs.

Konnan Cartel drew post 5 and will be ridden by Ubaldo Luna.
