Apollitical B Snow Freezes The Field In The $35,000 Mid City Stakes

OPELOUSAS, LA—OCTOBER 86, 2021—Apollitical B Snow continued his stellar 2021 season with another stakes victory in the $35,000 Mid City Stakes (RG3). The race for Louisiana bred 3-year-olds and up was contested over a fast track at 350 yards.

Jockey Everardo Rodriguez had the 3/5-favored runner out of the gate sharply, but had to dig in late to defeat a game Lifeinthefastlanes. Sir Louisiana Dash and Black Blood also had chances with sharp breaks, but could not go with the winner.

The Rosendo Valdez, Jr. runner was ¾-lengths clear at the wire, with Lifeinthefastlanes a neck better than Sir Louisiana Dash.

Running for Christopher A. Villatoro, Apollitical B Snow completed the distance in 17.313 seconds. The winner registered a 102 speed index. Apollitical B Snow earned $21,000 for the win, his seventh from 18 career starts. The winner’s prize pushed his lifetime earnings to $180,658.

Bred in Louisiana by Glinden Leger Estate, the 4-year-old brown gelding was sired by leading third-crop sire Apollitical Blood and is out of the This Snow is Royal mare Mary Snow.

Runner-up Lifeinthefastlanes was making her first career start for new owner Paragon Farms LLC. Trainer Kenny Roberts named jockey David Alvarez to ride the multiple graded stakes winning daughter of Jess Louisiana Blue. Wade and Kay Loup bred the 4-year-old filly from the Panther Mountain mare Pantherinthefastlane. The $7,000 second-place payday valued at $7,000 boosted her earnings total to $457,881.

Sir Louisiana Dash finished a neck back to earn $3,850 for third. Hector Alcala trains the Sir Runway Dash 4-year-old for owner Rogelio Marquez, Jr. Bred by Tate Farms, from the Separatist mare Ms Proverabal, the multiple stakes winner has earned $309,731. Raul Ramirez, Jr. was riding.

Apollitical B Snow returned $3.20 to win as the favorite, $2.20 to place and $2.10 to show. Lifeinthefastlanes, second choice on the board, paid $3.20 to place and $2.40 to show. Sir Louisiana Dash was worth $3.80 to show. Black Blood, Jrs Coronas Toast, Cason, El Camino Cl and Tf Runaway Dashin completed the field. He B Swift and Swamp Eagle were both scratched.

Live racing resumes on Wednesday with a 5:35pm first post. The Evangeline Downs Quarter Horse season runs through December 30.
