Eysa Jess Jumpn Wins $308,863 Delta Downs Louisiana-bred Derby

Eysa Jess Jumpn, under jockey Guadalupe Lucio, Jr., winning the $308,863 Delta Downs Louisiana-bred Derby (RG3) on Saturday.

VINTON, LA—JULY 6, 2019—In other action on Saturday at Delta Downs it was Eysa Jess Jumpn winning the $308,863 Delta Downs Louisiana-bred Derby (RG3) with jockey Guadalupe Lucio, Jr. in the saddle for trainer Josue Huitron and owner Jose Estrada Quarter Horses (Jose L. Estrada).

The brown filly completed the 400 yards in :19.522 seconds, a 96-speed index over the fast course.

"This filly gets faster every time she runs!," Guadalupe Jr. "She may look small, but once she hits the track, she feels like the biggest horse out there."

The 3-year-old Heza Fast Dash filly also won last year’s $700,000 Lee Berwick Futurity and now boasts a career bankroll of $671,502. Bred by D & S Racing LLC from the Mr Jess Perry mare Jess Jumpn, Eysa Jess Jumpn has compiled a (13) 10-0-1 record, She logged her sixth consecutive win tonight, which also includes the Grade 3 Sam Houston Derby two races back.

"It’s hard to put into words how special she is," Huitron said after the race. "My heart skips a beat watching her run and seeing her give so much last year and get even better as a 3-year-old."

Dales Rogers homebred Im For Real finished one-length back to earn $52,507. Josue Huitron conditions the gray daughter of Whathaveigottado from the Dash Plays On mare Imnotplaying. Pedro Espinosa was riding.

Josue Ponce also saddled Tdz Louisiana Toast, a son of multiple stakes sire Jess Louisiana Blue who finished a neck back in third. Manuel Gutierrez had the riding call aboard the Juan Martinez owned gelding out of Shes A Royal Toast by Toast To Dash. Bred by Tony Doughtie, Tda Louisiana Toast earned $30,866 for the effort.

Barjaxs, On Point, Guidry Pride II, Game Overtime, Achievopiloto, Corona Prize and Rogue One completed the field.
