A Painted Dynasty, Big Daddy Jewel Return in Firecracker Futurity Trials

VINTON, LA—JUNE 4, 2019—A Painted Dynasty, a graded stakes placed son of champion FDD Dynasty campaigned by Jardiel Perez, is one of 69 2-year-olds entered in Saturday’s 350-yard Firecracker Futurity (G2) trials at Delta Downs.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the July 4, $100,000-added Firecracker Futurity final.

A Painted Dynasty will be stretching out in distance off of a his third-place finish, 1 1/2 lengths behind winner Trump My Record, in the 330-yard, $459,700 Sam Houston Futurity (G2) at Sam Houston Race Park. The Oklahoma-bred colt has earned $53,207 from three races.

A Painted Dynasty drew post 4 and will be ridden by Victor Urieta Jr. for trainer Josue Ponce in the seventh of eight trials.

Big Daddy Jewel is trained by Heath Taylor for owners Chris Dunn, David Dunn, and Rebecca Jameson. A gray son of Big Daddy Cartel, the gelding is coming off of a head victory in the 330-yard, $104,705 Old South Futurity at Delta Downs on May 11.

Big Daddy Jewel drew post 9 and will be ridden by Randy Edison in the sixth heat.

Other prominent juveniles entered in Saturday’s Firecracker Futurity trials include Raedele Phipps’ Expedyte, a stakes winning Freighttrain B colt trained by Josue Ponce. Expedyte has won both of his starts, including the 330-yard, $45,970 Sam Houston Juvenile Invitational Stakes on May 3, and he has earned $15,591.

Expedyte drew the rail post and will be ridden by Victor Urieta Jr. in the fourth trial.
