Amending The Bar Splashes To Victory in $434,538 LQHBA Sale Futurity(RG1) at Fair Grounds

NEW ORLEANS, LA—SEPTEMBER 8, 2018—The near perfect filly Amending The Bar broke out under jockey Jorge Linares then splashed home to a three-quarter length win over Guidry Pride II in the restricted Grade 1 record-setting $434,538 LQHBA Sale Futurity Saturday afternoon at Fair Grounds Race Course and Slots in New Orleans.

Mr Coahuila was moved up to third after Logans Fast Dasher was disqualified and placed last for interference.

A $6,500 LQHBA Yearling Sale graduate for owner Julio Ramirez, Amending The Bar completed the 350 yards over a sloppy (sealed) racetrack in :17.387 seconds, a 99 speed index, to get her third career win from four starts. Her only loss came after a troubled start in the $283,715 LQHBA Lassie Futurity(RG2) last May where she finished sixth.

"We went to the sale and were looking for a Five Bar Cartel," Ramirez said Saturday afternoon. "I thank Jose; he’s done a great job with the filly."

Trainer Jose Sanchez, III conditions the daughter of leading first-crop sire Five Bar Cartel from the Raise A Secret mare Making Amends.

"She’s been fast since the beginning" Sanchez said after the race. "We saw how competitive she was’ pinning her ears back and never gives up. I’m so happy that she won the final."

Bred by Ray and Brenda Trahan, the chestnut filly picked up $195,542 to boost her career mark to $215,616.

"As soon as her mama let me near her, this filly was so sweet!," Brenda Trahan said. "I would run a few steps and she would race after me. Watching her win today was a thrill for us."

Guidry Pride II, a Sir Runaway Dash colt racing for owner Edmundo Juarez and trainer Wendy Garcia earned $73,871 for finishing second. Also a $6,500 sale graduate, the gray 2-year-old was bred by Johnny and Cynthia Guidry from the Panther Mountain mare Guidrys Boodie Doo.

Guidry Pride II, who won the Mardis Gras Futurity(RG2) in March, has banked more than $219,000 this season.

Also conditioned by trainer by Sanchez, Mr Coahuila as moved from fourth in the show position which pushed his sale futurity earnings up to $43,454. Owner Emmanuel Villareal paid $13,500 for the Game Patriot gelding at the 2016 LQHBA Yearling Sale, when he sold under the name RS Hesawild Game. Mr Coahuila is out of the Corona Cartel mare Shes A Wild Babe.

Prior to the sale futurity trials August 17, Mr Coahuila finished second in the $700,000 Lee Berwick Futurity(RG1) at Delta Downs. Ridden by Eddie Sanchez, who qualified four finalists for the sale futurity, the bay gelding was cut off at the start by Logans Fast Dasher. He has earned $175,094 in six starts.

Completing the official order of finish were Tetris B, Tdz Slinkys Fire, Rf Fsat Dash N Blue, Zoom By Me, Tan Jet and Rl First Dash.
