Stakes Sire Copacorona Special Returns to Louisiana For 2016


Stakes sire Copacorona Special will stand the 2016 season at Hebert Quarter Horses near Welsh, Louisiana.



WELSH, LA—SEPTEMBER 1, 2015—Stakes winner and stakes sire Copacorona Special will return to the Louisiana for the 2016 breeding season. The son of leading sire Corona Cartel will stand at Hebert Quarter Horses near Welsh. His fee has not been announced.

From a limited number of starters Copacorona Special has sired nine winners, one stakes winner and his foals have average earnings per starter of $14,250. His top performers include Mexico Hi-Point Aged Mare Special Exterior SI 105 (15 wins, $262,096), Copacoronas Glory SI 95 (2 wins, $20,376, Firecracker Derby finalist), etc.

Owned by a partnership, Copacorona Special won or placed in nine of 12 career starts, earning $56,224. He won the Longhorn Juvenile Invitational and was a finalist in the Manor Downs Futurity(G2), Longhorn Derby and Dash For Cash Juvenile Invitational(G3).

He is out of the stakes producing Strawfly Special mare Demi Special, a sister to Kansas Derby(G1) winner The Specializer SI 98 ($58,997). The second dam is the G3-placed and multiple stakes producing Master Hand (TB) mare Copalena SI 98, dam of 6 ROM including the aforementioned The Specializer SI 98 ($58,997), RG2-placed Chief Windham SI 105 ($72,578), etc. This is the immediate family of stakes winner Packin Sixes SI 99 ($86,155), etc.
